New York St. Patrick's Day Parade

EDM number 1209 in 2012-13, proposed by Gregory Campbell on 18/03/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Cultural heritage and North America.

That this House notes the number of recent events not just in the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland but in other countries, which were held to honour St Patrick; recognises that many were of cultural and historic significance, but deplores the fact that the parade in New York appears to have included a NORAID delegation carrying banners with three IRA hunger strikers on it and another with England get out of Ireland on it; and calls on the organisers of the New York parade to consult with victims of IRA terror in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and in mainland Great Britain to gauge the strength of opposition to such participation in future events.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
