Renewal Of Energy Contracts

EDM number 282 in 2012-13, proposed by Kate Hoey on 27/06/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Consumers, Energy and Utilities.

That this House recognises that many businesses are undergoing challenging times; notes that as few as seven per cent of businesses switch energy suppliers each year, despite the substantial savings that they can make; further notes that many businesses are unaware of when their energy contracts are due to renew and do not recall receiving renewal letters; believes that more ought to be done to ensure that customers are aware of the terms of their contract renewal, including renewal letters being sent by recorded delivery; and urges the Government to encourage swift action from Ofgem through its Retail Market Review.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
