That this House welcomes the 9.5 million investment in Lifescan's Inverness site for the research and development of the company's blood glucose monitoring work; acknowledges that diabetes is one of the world's fastest growing medical conditions; notes the contribution of this investment to the improved monitoring of diabetes in the future through glucose test strips and electronic meters; further notes the contribution of 2.8 millionto the project by the Scottish Government agency Highlands and Islands Enterprise; and calls on the Government to look at further collaborations with the industry to foster world-class research in the UK into managing the diabetes epidemic.
