Assetco And London Fire Brigade

EDM number 33 in 2012-13, proposed by Kate Hoey on 09/05/2012.
Categorised under the topic of Fire services.

That this House is deeply concerned about the financial problems at AssetCo's UK subsidiaries, one of which holds the London Fire Brigade PFI contract to lease and maintain all fire appliances and 50,000 other pieces of emergency equipment; notes the critical role of fire services in London during the Olympics; further notes the uncertainty over the future of the London subsidiary, which may be sold by the parent company at any time; believes fire service privatisation poses serious risks to public and firefighter safety; and calls on the Government to ensure the London fire engine fleet is brought back into public ownership prior to the start of the Olympics and any further proposals to privatise any part of the fire service are halted immediately.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
