Gaza Flotilla

EDM number 700 in 2012-13, proposed by George Galloway on 08/11/2012.
Categorised under the topics of International politics and government, Middle East and Shipping.

That this House welcomes the opening of the trial in Turkey of four former Israeli commanders over the deaths of nine Turkish activists on board the aid ship Mavi Marmara; notes that British volunteers were on board the ship bound for Gaza in 2010, some of whom were wounded; further notes that the Mavi Marmara was part of a flotilla attempting to breach Israel's illegal blockade of Gaza, which has caused hunger, hardship and devastation of the local economy; condemns the storming of the boat in international waters by Israeli commandos and also the refusal of Israel to co-operate with Turkey over the trial; and calls on the British Government to urge Israel, even at this late date, to extradite Gabi Ashkenazi, Amos Yadlin, Eliezer Marom and Avishai Levy to face charges of inciting murder.

This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
