William Tyndale

EDM number 188 in 2013-14, proposed by Gregory Campbell on 04/06/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Cultural heritage and Religion and faith communities.

That this House notes that on 6 June 2013 on BBC2 the historical documentary The most dangerous man is to be broadcast about the life and times of William Tyndale who, nearly 500 years ago translated the Bible from Latin into English, making the Word of God available for the first time ever to millions of people and in a style and prose that was the most majestic ever written; and further notes that Tyndale has been described as the man who laid the foundation of our modern language with many of our present day turns of phrase being attributed to him, his endeavours ultimately resulting in his paying the supreme sacrifice by being burned at the stake for his beliefs.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
