Academy Sponsorship

EDM number 482 in 2014-15, proposed by George Galloway on 05/11/2014.
Categorised under the topic of Schools.

That this House is shocked that there are no powers to monitor and judge academy sponsors and multi-academy trusts; notes that academy schools were first introduced under Labour in 2010 but ballooned under the present Government; points out that academy chains have paid millions of pounds into the private business of directors, trustees and their relatives; and concludes that the introduction of private backers and sponsors into the education system has been a hugely costly disaster to the detriment of hundreds of thousands of children.

This motion has been signed by a total of 2 MPs.
