Teachers And Salary Sacrifice Car Schemes

EDM number 448 in 2015-16, proposed by David TC Davies on 14/09/2015.
Categorised under the topics of Pay, Roads, Taxation and Teachers.

That this House welcomes the use of salary sacrifice car schemes, which provide a boost to the motoring industry and deliver a low cost, low pollution motoring option for motorists; notes the popularity of these schemes with public and private sector workers and the cost neutrality of the scheme to the taxpayer; recognises the exemption of teachers from the schemes despite all other public and private sector professionals being eligible, and teachers having access to similar schemes such as cycle to work; acknowledges how teachers could benefit from access to the scheme and how the scheme could help to increase the attractiveness of the profession; understands them to be a useful took to help retain talented staff; and urges the Education Secretary to consider salary sacrifice car schemes for teachers, in her next remit to the School Teachers Review Body.
