Good Money Week 2015

EDM number 528 in 2015-16, proposed by Greg Mulholland on 15/10/2015.
Categorised under the topics of Financial services and Pensions.

That this House welcomes Good Money Week 2015, which runs between 18 and 24 October 2015, and aims to raise awareness of sustainable, responsible and ethical finance to help people make good money choices; recognises that this year is the Week's biggest ever with 50 events being hosted throughout the country; notes that research commissioned by the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association found that 55 per cent of people want their pensions or savings to have some positive impact beyond just making money, up from 42 per cent in 2012; acknowledges that 42 per cent of adults already agree that the default automatic enrolment pension option should be sustainable or ethical; further notes that 58 per cent of people under 35 want annual updates from their pension fund on their environmental and social impact; further recognises that sustainable, ethical and responsible finance allows individuals to have a positive impact on the environment and society without sacrificing financial performance; and urges the Government to recognise the positive impact responsible and sustainable investment practices can have on the economy, the environment and society as a whole.
