Yorkshire County Cricket Club's Consecutive County Championships

EDM number 557 in 2015-16, proposed by Greg Mulholland on 20/10/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Sports.

That this House congratulates Yorkshire County Cricket Club on successfully retaining the County Championship as they did on 9 September 2015; notes that this is the Headingley-based club's first consecutive County Championships win since 1968; further notes the latest title was won unbeaten, 11.5 days of cricket early and and despite the club losing six players at various stages to England; further congratulates the club on having lost just three of 61 games since Jason Gillespie's arrival before the 2012 season; congratulates Jonny Bairstow on winning both the player and player's player of the year awards and also Jack Leaning on being awarded the club's young player of the year; congratulates Ryan Sidebottom on passing the 700 first-class wickets milestone; feels the club is well-placed to win a hat-trick of championships as the club's director of cricket Martyn Moxon has called for; believes the club can go on to challenge the 1960s team that won seven titles in nine years; and congratulates the club once more and wishes it further success over the years to come.
