Ribble Valley Flooding (No. 2)

That this House notes that some of the worst flooding on record took place in the Ribble Valley during the Christmas 2015 period, with over 300 homes and businesses flooded; recognises the dedication of many in the community, and in particular Gillian Darbyshire and the Whalley Lions, Neil Martin, Mags Twist, Mark Darbyshire, Caz Morton and the Accrington Lions, Caroline Macdonald, Chris Knagg and family, Kellie Hughes, Katie Blezard, Steve Proctor, Paul Ridehalgh, proprietors of The Dog Inn, Swann Hotel, The De Lacy, Benedicts of Whalley, the al-Imdaad Foundation and David and Debi Hothersall of the Billington and Whalley Brass Band Club; further recognises the excellent direction of Ribble Valley Chief Executive Marshal Scott, and other senior officers, who led operations from Whalley Village Hall every day; gives thanks for the efforts of the waste disposal team, emergency services, members of the army and the RAF; further notes the leadership shown by Ribble Valley councillors, South Ribble councillors and parish councillors in working for their communities; also gives thanks to BBC Radio Lancashire for its constant reporting, which gave valuable information to local people; and applauds the generosity of many individuals, groups and businesses who donated food and clean-up materials, including those who were themselves victims of the flooding.
