Govia Thameslink Franchise Review

EDM number 298 in 2016-17, proposed by Chuka Umunna on 06/07/2016.
Categorised under the topic of Railways.

That this House expresses dismay at the unacceptable level of service provided by Southern Rail and Thameslink, operated by Govia Thameslink, which is causing frequent delays and disruption to passengers across London and the South East; notes the impact that such delays, cancellations and poor customer service cause to passengers and the economy; further notes that the commitment to improving the service has been wholly inadequate as illustrated in the latest results of Network Rail's Public Performance Measure and Passenger Satisfaction Survey and the scheduled cancellation of up to 350 trains per day; and urges the Government to strip GTR of its franchises in advance of the renewal date, with an accelerated transfer of Greater London services to Transport for London.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
