500th Anniversary Of The Reformation

EDM number 864 in 2016-17, proposed by Gregory Campbell on 17/01/2017.
Categorised under the topic of Religion and faith communities.

That this House notes that 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther nailing 95 theses to the church door at Wittenberg, Germany, thus commencing one of the most significant religious and social changes which began initially across much of northern Europe, including the UK, and has spread in the centuries since to North America, Brazil and the Far East; expresses the hope that not just in Germany, but in other nations including in the UK, that the Protestant reformation will be commemorated given the relative freedoms and prosperity that followed the commencement of that religious awakening.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
