Hartlepool Hospital

EDM number 1020 in 2017-19, proposed by Mike Hill on 06/03/2018.
Categorised under the topic of Health services.

That this House notes with concern the gradual erosion of healthcare provision in Hartlepool despite having been promised a new hospital more than eight years ago; condemns any and all further cuts to health provision in Hartlepool; congratulates staff at both the University Hospital of Hartlepool and the University Hospital of North Tees for their diligence in dealing with a substandard situation; further notes that the University Hospital of North Tees now treats more than double its original workload of patients; notes that the decisions taken subsequently to the closure of the accident and emergency department at the University Hospital of Hartlepool were not taken with the consent of the people of Hartlepool and East Durham; believes that these cuts and changes are part of a wider destabilisation of the NHS by the Government; regrets the decisions of the clinical commissioning group to close the accident and emergency department; and further believes that full healthcare provision should be returned to both of the aforementioned hospitals in order to preserve the welfare of the peoples of Durham and the Tees Valley.
