Swami Vivekananda

EDM number 1834 in 2017-19, proposed by Bob Blackman on 14/11/2018.

That this House acknowledges the work of Swami Vivekananda and his message of Universal Tolerance, Harmony and Peace; notes and reflects upon his historic speech in 1893 at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago, US; considers his speech, at the young age of 30 years old, a landmark in interfaith dialogue; further notes how well he represented Hinduism in 1983 and beyond; and supports the sentiment he expressed, that we believe not only in universal tolerance, but we accept all religions as true.
