EDM number 59 in 2017-19, proposed by Paul Masterton on 27/06/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Charities, Community care and National Lottery.
That this House applauds the recent Awards for All Scotland grants for various East Renfrewshire-based organisations; understands that Awards for All Scotland gives groups a chance to apply for a National Lottery grant of between £500 and £10,000 for projects that aim to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need; notes that Bengali Performing Arts, a charity registered in Newton Mearns, received £9,000 to develop its cultural education and social cohesion programme and to promote Bengali culture; looks forward to its two day extravaganza event which it is using to celebrate the organisation's 25th anniversary; further understands that ILC Darnley was awarded £9,950 to renovate the grounds of its learning and community centre to help provide a garden for the community; acknowledges that Barrhead Netball Club was successful in a £6,882 award to enable it to grow and expand within the community; welcomes the support for the Barrhead Men's Shed with an award of £3,227 which will see investment in tools and equipment for its Men's Shed; and trusts that these grants will go some way to assisting those groups in carrying on their good work in East Renfrewshire.
