Report On The Subjection Of Women In Iran
EDM number 251 in 1994-95, proposed by Kate Hoey on 12/12/1994.
That this House, in support of the many brave and resourceful women and men who are leading the struggle for human rights in Iran, welcomes the findings of the British Parliamentary Human Rights Group report, Iran - The Subjection of Women, that "the most striking characteristic of the Iranian theocratic dictatorship is its frenzied antagonism toward women as partners in society"; and urges Her Majesty's Government to recognise the movement for a secular and pluralistic model of democracy for Iran, and to further pursue steps within the European Union and the United Nations which will effectively express the condemnation of the international community about the situation of women in Iran.
This motion has been signed by a total of 67 MPs.
