Rehabilitation Of Drug Users
EDM number 211 in 1997-98, proposed by Fraser Kemp on 07/07/1997.
That this House commends the action taken by Her Majesty's Government to combat the evil of drugs which continue to blight all lives but particuarly the lives of young people; views with interest the position in Florida, USA, where legally enforceable rehabilitation for drug users has been introduced, resulting in a 67 per cent. reduction in drug reoffences; and calls on the Government to examine in detail the results of the Florida Scheme, which the News of the World should be congratulated for highlighting with a view to its introduction on an experimental basis in the United Kingdom if it is proved successful.
