Network Card Benefits

EDM number 226 in 1997-98, proposed by Tom Brake on 09/07/1997.

That this House notes with concern that the Association of Train Operating Companies has decided that with effect from 28th September 430,000 Network Card holders will no longer be entitled to discounts on travelcards or rail tickets that include travelcards; notes that the cost of the Network Card will rise from ú14 to ú20, and that Network Card users will no longer be able to travel on trains leaving London terminals on Mondays to Fridays between 1600 and 1930; and calls on the Government to take action to stop the undermining of the Network Card and to bring forward proposals as a matter of urgency to strengthen the regulatory framework of the railway industry.
