Special Olympics Portsmouth

That this House congratulates the City of Portsmouth and all those involved with the Special Olympics 1997 for contributing to such a splendid event; congratulates all athletes involved and all who played a part in organising such a magnificent occasion; recognises the achievements of the participants will form a lasting impression on those who witnessed or took part and that the event in Portsmouth will be an inspiration across the world to future Special Olympic Games; and in particular thanks the administration of the Special Olympics Committee and David Knight, head of leisure with Portsmouth City Council, and his staff who worked so hard to make the Special Olympics vision a reality in Portsmouth.
