ROYAL SOCIETY OF CHEMISTRY'S CHEMISTRY WEEK 1997

That this House congratulates The Royal Society of Chemistry for organising the nationwide Chemistry Week from 14th to 21st November 1997; applauds the wide variety of events being held throughout the UK to raise awareness of the vital role which chemistry plays in the modern world and in everyday life; notes the Parliamentary launch of Chemistry Week by the honourable Member for Bolton South East; and congratulates him and his colleague Dr Tom Paterson of the University of Salford, on their unique live demonstration of explosive chemical energy in action on Guy Fawkes Day, which is a milestone in bringing chemistry to Parliament.
