Support For Further Education
EDM number 426 in 1997-98, proposed by Dennis Turner on 11/11/1997.
That this House congratulates the Association of Colleges on its first national conference as the sole representative body for the whole of the further education sector; recognises the great achievements of the sector since incorporation in delivering high quality education to currently nearly four million students a year under extremely difficult funding constraints; endorses the sector as the prime mechanism to deliver the Government's lifelong learning agenda, being the largest supplier of education to 16 to 19 year olds and the largest supplier of qualifications to adults, especially women; and recognises its rightful place at the heart of national upskilling.
This motion has been signed by a total of 88 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
