Conduct Of The Honourable Member For Bassetlaw And Use Of House Of Commons Post Paid Envelopes

EDM number 597 in 1997-98, proposed by Joseph Ashton on 16/12/1997.

That this House deplores the vindictive way in which certain honourable Members reported the honourable Member for Bassetlaw and the honourable Member for Worcester to the Serjeant at Arms for using post-paid stationery envelopes to inform honourable Members of their bills; notes that for over 25 years, hundreds of honourable Members have written to each other about early day motions, private bills, all party meetings, etc.; notes that the honourable Member for Worcester paid ú100 when requested but that the honourable Member for Bassetlaw has no intention of paying a penny; and calls on the Administration committee to investigate the current regulations and insist that the names of those making a complaint be published.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
