Hillsborough Tragedy - 10th Anniversary

EDM number 552 in 1998-99, proposed by Alan Simpson on 15/04/1999.

That this House notes, with sadness, the 10th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy, resulting in the death of 96 Liverpool football supporters; recognises the continuing and overwhelming sence of 'justice denied' felt by the families of those who died; welcomes the widest possible support for the families and communities still looking for answers to fundamental questions about direct responsibility for the tragedy; and urges the authorities in Sheffield to discuss with families on Merseyside some form of permanent commemoration which would recognise the tragic events which took place at the ground 10 years ago.
