Armenian Genocide

EDM number 1024 in 1999-00, proposed by Jane Griffiths on 25/07/2000.

That this House congratulates the participants in the recent Scholars Conference on the Holocaust on their statement affirming that 'the Armenian genocide is an incontestable historical fact' and urging western democratic governments to recognise it as such; and therefore urges the Government to take the lead internationally by recognising the 1915 Armenian massacre as genocide, both in the interests of historical accuracy and as an impetus to democracy in Turkey.

This motion has been signed by a total of 25 MPs.
