Commissioning Specialised Services For Disabled Children
EDM number 1123 in 1999-00, proposed by Alan Meale on 06/11/2000.
That this House congratulates the charity SCOPE on its work for people with cerebral palsy, in particular its campaign to overcome problems associated with the commissioning of specialist services for sufferers; recognises that enabling the implementation of service agreements between health authorities and specialist centres is crucial; is therefore deeply concerned that under present arrangements this could take up to two years to achieve; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to speed up urgently such agreements and in the meantime for permission to be given which would allow health authorities wishing to fund neurosurgery for children with the illness to do so.
