Act Of Settlement

EDM number 224 in 1999-00, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 20/12/1999.

That this House believes the Act of Settlement 1701, under which the monarch may be and may wed a person of any religion other than Roman Catholicism, is anachronistic and offensive; and joins the Scottish Parliament in calling for the Act's repeal.

This motion has been signed by a total of 45 MPs.
