Urban Post Offices

EDM number 311 in 1999-00, proposed by Mike Hancock on 24/01/2000.

That this House calls on the Government to support the vital role that urban sub-post offices play in city life; notes that in Portsmouth South 15 out of 22 of them derive more than 40 per cent. of their income from Benefits Agency work, without which they will be under serious threat of closure; believes that this is not an uncommon situation and is shared by urban sub-post offices across the UK; and therefore requests the Government to look very carefully at the changes in the way benefits are paid.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
