Commercial Licencing Of Gm Crops

EDM number 377 in 1999-00, proposed by David Heath on 09/02/2000.

That this House deplores the action of the European Commission in promoting the addition of GM seeds to the Common Catalogue, contrary to the position of the European Parliament; calls on the United Kingdom Government to refuse applications for GM maize to be added to the United Kingdom National Seed List; and considers that no GM varieties should be approved for commercial growing until farm-scale trials are satisfactorily completed and potential threats to the environment can be safely discounted.

This motion has been signed by a total of 64 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
