Women And Democracy In Bahrain

That this House congratulates Bahrain's Prime Minister, Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, on his announcement that the next parliament of the Consultative Council will include women members, and that the following parliament, beginning in 2004, will be democratically elected; recognises the importance of the steps taken by Bahrain's government over the last year to safeguard human rights, including the establishment of the Human Rights Committee; and welcomes Bahrain's effort to build a tolerant and inclusive society.
