Youth Music Action Zones

EDM number 132 in 2000-01, proposed by Lembit Opik on 20/12/2000.

That this House applauds the National Foundation for Youth Music in its ambitious new initiative, Youth Music Action Zones, which aims to reach over one million children, young people and their communities nationwide by Spring 2002; appreciates the importance of targeting of known areas of social and economic need, providing music-making opportunities to children and young people who are socially marginalised or have educational or behavioural problems; recognises that through music it is possible to develop young people's learning, communication and leadership skills; and wholly supports the view that all children and young people should have access to music opportunities, and that community music-making has an important role to play in social regeneration.

This motion has been signed by a total of 50 MPs.
