Act Of Settlement 1701

EDM number 55 in 2000-01, proposed by Roseanna Cunningham on 07/12/2000.

That this House believes that the discrimination contained in the Act of Settlement 1701 has no place in modern society; expresses its wish that those discriminatory aspects of the Act be repealed; affirms its view that society must not disbar participation in any aspect of national life on the grounds of religion; and commends the legal action contemplated by the Guardian newspaper in this regard.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
