Consignia (No. 2)

EDM number 1102 in 2001-02, proposed by Richard Younger-Ross on 10/04/2002.

That this House deplores the proposed job losses in Consignia, particularly given the ú2 million spent on the much disliked rebranding of the company; is concerned that these job losses will have a further deleterious effect on urban and rural sub-post offices, the closures of so many of which have already knocked the heart out of numerous communities; questions how the loss of so many postmen and women can serve to improve the service to customers; and calls on the Government to guarantee the retention of the universal service obligation and the maintenance of post collections.

This motion has been signed by a total of 40 MPs.
