Drug Addiction On Teesside

EDM number 1355 in 2001-02, proposed by Ashok Kumar on 21/05/2002.

That this House notes with concern the scale of drug addiction on Teesside, where an estimated 37,000 people regularly use illegal drugs, nearly 50 babies a year are born addicted to heroin and children as young as eight years are receiving treatment on Teesside; further notes that the scale has now risen to six times the national average; and believes that this confirms the need of Teesside for detoxication and rehabilitation assistance at least equivalent to that offered elsewhere in England by the Home Office's Ten Forces Robbery Reduction initiative.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
