Bruges Group Pamphlet And Eu Spending

EDM number 1508 in 2001-02, proposed by John Redwood on 26/06/2002.

That this House notes the publication by the Bruges Group of its pamphlet, Federalist Thought Control: The Brussels Propaganda Machine; further notes the extensive research which shows that in the region of 250,000,000 Euros or ú160,000,000 of European taxpayers' money is being spent unduly to influence vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, schoolchildren and opinion multipliers such as students, academics and journalists; recalls that state funding is also used to such ends, contrary to the Education Act of 1996; calls for this money to be spent on improving schools which the Secretary of State for Education has deemed as failing their pupils; and calls on the Leader of the House to hold an early debate on this waste of taxpayers' money.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
