Treatment Of Staff By Telesens Kscl

EDM number 1584 in 2001-02, proposed by John Barrett on 08/07/2002.

That this House condemns the appalling way in which all 220 staff who lost their jobs at computer software company Telesens KSCL in Edinburgh have been treated by their former employers; notes that, despite being told in early June by the company that 'cashflow was secure until the end of the year', the redundant workers have been released without any redundancy money or their final month's salary for work carried out in June, leaving many of the former workforce in severe financial difficulty; and calls on the Department for Trade and Industry to conduct a full inquiry into the collapse of Telesens KSCL, its subsequent takeover by Convergys and the way in which the staff who lost their jobs have been treated.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
