Birmingham International Airport

EDM number 1682 in 2001-02, proposed by Richard Burden on 22/07/2002.

That this House recognises the importance of Birmingham International Airport, already bringing over ú165 million into the regional economy and with over 8,600 jobs currently dependent on the airport; recognises that, located at the heart of the national road and rail network, Birmingham International Airport also has increasing significance to the United Kingdom as a whole; notes that realising the further potential of Birmingham International Airport could save around five million unnecessary road journeys to airports in the South East by passengers from the regions; and urges Ministers to pay full regard to the potential offered by the further development of Birmingham International Airport both to growing regional and national prosperity and to sustainable aviation development.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
