Speed Cameras

EDM number 272 in 2001-02, proposed by Norman Lamb on 18/10/2001.

That this House notes the success of the pilot schemes for self-financing speed cameras; notes in particular the fact that the number of people killed or seriously injured at camera sites fell by 47 per cent. compared to the previous three years and that the number of drivers caught speeding dropped significantly; and further welcomes the new 'Casualty Reduction Partnership' launched in Norfolk between the police, health and highways authorities believing that this initiative and the new funding for the operation of a network of speed cameras across Norfolk will help to achieve the desired objective of reducing speed thereby cutting the number of accidents on Norfolk's roads with the consequent saving of lives.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
