United States Funding To Unfpa

EDM number 728 in 2001-02, proposed by Chris McCafferty on 24/01/2002.

That this House welcomes the recent decision of the US Congress to approve funding of $34 million to the UNFPA; notes that this will enable UNFPA to implement new reproductive health programmes and progress existing projects that will help prevent 800,000 unsafe abortions and the deaths of 4,700 mothers and 77,000 children under the age of five every year and enable support for international HIV/AIDS prevention programmes; and urges President Bush to approve the decision as a matter or urgency.

This motion has been signed by a total of 60 MPs.
