Silverlink Service Between Birmingham And London

EDM number 1040 in 2002-03, proposed by Paul Marsden on 08/04/2003.

That this House agrees with the West Midlands Passenger Transport Authority that the proposal to end the low cost Silverlink service between Birmingham and London will reduce access for low income passengers to travel between the two cities since its replacement will cost more; notes a standard single ticket on Silverlink is ú24.00 compared to Virgin's West Coast service costing ú30.60; and urges the Strategic Rail Authority to develop affordable rail services for those on low incomes across the country.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
