Customs And Excise Cover In West Wales

EDM number 1092 in 2002-03, proposed by Jackie Lawrence on 28/04/2003.

That this House is concerned to prevent any moves that will diminish Customs and Excise cover in West Wales ports which is essential in tackling drug smuggling and crime in general; believes that current proposals by Custom and Excise to replace existing permanent staffing with mobile teams from outside the area will result in such diminution through lack of local knowledge and expertise; and calls on the Government to undertake a detailed assessment of need and cover before any such proposals for mobile teams are considered.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
