Charter For Reading
EDM number 1498 in 2002-03, proposed by Jane Griffiths on 01/07/2003.
That this House notes that 2003 marks the 750th anniversary of Reading receiving its Charter from the Sovereign; commends the Mayor of Reading, Councillor Jeanette Skeats, on her initiative to mark this keynote passage in Reading's history; and hopes that local authorities around the country will learn from Reading in terms of civil pride and tribute to heritage.
