Closure Of Humberstone Post Office

EDM number 1553 in 2002-03, proposed by Keith Vaz on 08/07/2003.

That this House deplores the closure of the Humberstone Post Office as it will have a serious detrimental effect on the local community; believes the modifications in the post office service fall short of appreciating the significance of local branches to the community; requests the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry to call on Paul Maisy, the Head of Area of the Post Office to arrange a suitable time for a meeting to take place to explain his decision; notes that Mr Maisey stated that he was too busy to meet the honourable Member for Leicester East or any local residents concerning the closure of Humberstone Post Office during the consultation period; and believes that the programme of modernisation of the postal service can only work where there is proper and timely consultation.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
