The Obesity Awareness And Solutions Trust(toast)

EDM number 1618 in 2002-03, proposed by David Amess on 17/07/2003.

That this House notes that the level of obesity in the UK has reached epidemic proportions; further notes that overweight and obesity lead to dramatic increases in health risks at an annual cost to the National Health Service of over ú500 million and a total cost to the economy of ú2.6 billion; welcomes The Obesity Awareness and Solutions Trust's 5th Obesity Awareness Week from 1st to 7th September, which aims to raise the profile of obesity-related issues, and which this year focuses on size discrimination, health-related events, obesity in children and misleading food labelling and the role of Government in obesity, and to promote its campaign for a National Centre of Excellence dedicated to the prevention, treatment and management of obesity; and extends to TOAST very best wishes for every possible success with this project.

This motion has been signed by a total of 34 MPs.
