Post Office Closures

EDM number 1702 in 2002-03, proposed by Mike Hancock on 17/09/2003.

That this House deplores the further wave of closures this autumn of urban post offices, including proposals to close one-third of those in South Portsmouth and upwards of 3,000 of all post offices nationally, some of which are viable; and calls upon the Government to hold urgent talks with the Post Office to halt these closures and to develop their services as community hubs, and also to implement the PIU report which was so warmly welcomed by the Prime Minister.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
