Gm Free Co-Op

EDM number 1794 in 2002-03, proposed by Alan Simpson on 21/10/2003.

That this House congratulates the Co-op on its decision to remove all genetically modified products and ingredients from goods on sale in its stores; recognises that this is in line with consumer desires to avoid GM food, farmers' desires not to grow it, insurers' refusal to cover it and sciences' refusal to declare it safe; and furthermore urges the Government and other supermarkets to follow the Co-op's lead.
