That this House recognises the crucial role of social work in efforts to combat health inequalities, integrate services for adults in the community, speed discharges from the acute hospital sector and ensure that people are well supported in their own homes; welcomes the efforts of the Government to raise standards in social care with improved inspection, better training and professional accountability; and urges that the significance of social work to the well being of individuals and communities be further recognised by the renaming of the Department of Health as the Department of Health and Social Care.
