Pesticide Residues In Food

EDM number 261 in 2002-03, proposed by Mike Weir on 02/12/2002.

That this House notes with concern the findings of the European Commission's Pesticides Residues Monitoring Programme that the proportion of fruit and vegetable containing more than the permitted maximum residue limit is rising; believes that urgent steps need to be taken to reduce the amount of such residues in food; urges the industry to take immediate steps to reduce pesticide use; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to introduce statutory targets to reduce pesticides use.

This motion has been signed by a total of 48 MPs.
