Un Draft Document On Likely Humanitarian Scenarios

EDM number 475 in 2002-03, proposed by Harry Cohen on 08/01/2003.

That this House notes the content of the strictly confidential United Nations draft document entitled Likely Humanitarian Scenarios, which has been published on website www.casi.org.uk/info/undocs/war021210.pdf by the Cambridge-based NGO Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq, which estimates likely humanitarian consequences of anticipated military scenarios in Iraq as 500,000 people possibly requiring treatment as a result of direct or indirect injuries, 39 per cent. of the population in need of potable water, the outbreak of diseases in epidemic if not pandemic proportions being very likely, the nutritional status of 3.03 million people countrywide likely to be dire and 900,000 Iraqi refugees requiring assistance; and calls for this information to be a factor militating against war.

This motion has been signed by a total of 31 MPs.
