Religious Liberty In France
EDM number 678 in 2002-03, proposed by Roy Beggs on 06/02/2003.
That this House is concerned that religious liberty in France is being curtailed by an improper interpretation of legislation concerning cults; believes there was a violation both of a registered place of worship and family rights when Victoria Jones Schmidt aged three years was taken from her parents by French Police at the request of the French Judiciary without any form of inquiry by social services, police officers or the Judiciary; and condemns such action which resulted in the child being separated from her parents for seven years and, despite all allegations against her parents being disproved the authorities still pursuing her father on false charges.
